What Is A Silk Screened Heat Transfer? A Silk Screened Heat press transfer is an image printed in reverse, or mirrored and applied to a piece of special garment quick release paper. The image is printed onto the paper with plastisol inks which have the characteristics of being flexible enough for stretching and durable enough for wear-ability. Plastisol inks are the similar to traditional wet application silk screen inks. The heat transfer can be applied to garments, mugs, mouse pads, and other porous and none porous surfaces. The image is applied using a professional grade thermal heat press machine which uses extremely high temperature (typically 385 degrees Fahrenheit) and controlled pressure to transfer these inks from the paper to the garment. The process takes typically 8-12 seconds and does not require a drying or curing process once applied. Transfers are available in a very wide variety of sizes, formats, and colors. Most heat transfers produced today are known as hot split transfers where the ink splits between the transfer paper and garment when heated. Other very popular types of transfers include puff "ink that puffs", glitter "ink that sparkles", foil "ink that shines", and sublimation "used for mug or hard surface transfers". |
